Hiking in the French Pyrenees, in the Tourmalet Pic du Midi region.
- In the mountain plains to admire the panoramic views over the Pyrenees, down in the typical picturesque villages
-
at altitude to get to a mountain lake, a peak, pass or summit.
Experienced or mountain mountaineer, find “hiking at your feet”!
Trails for walking in the Pyrénées in complete freedom
Each outing is a journey that fills you with a breathtaking sense of freedom and where anything can happen! What drives us to go climbing in the mountains is the desire to (re)discover this peace of mind that washes over us, this sense of living life to the full and this inner well-being that awakens in us the joy of finding others … and ourselves!
No two outings are ever the same. Awaken your senses and the mountain has a whole host of surprises and encounters in store!
On both sides of the Tourmalet pass
All sorts of symbolic species of Pyrenean fauna and flora can be found right across the Col du Tourmalet pass, including the Pyrenean lily, bearded vulture, Pyrenean chamois and marmots…
In the summer, the queens of the mountain
Cows and ewes rule the mountainside as they graze in their summer pastures. At Tourmalet, you might even catch sight of some llamas if you’re lucky!
Breeders and shepherds are never far away
Livestock farmers, cowherds and shepherds are never far away, with their faithful patous, Great Pyrenees mountain dogs.
Don’t be surprised if you come across them on your walk.
If you’d like to, by all means exchange greetings with these custodians of the Pyrenees, and end with a “Adishatz!”, which is always greatly appreciated. That’s unless you pass some walkers en route for Santiago de Compostela instead ?
