One night at the Pic du Midi

Trip to the heart of the galaxy

As well as being perfectly organised, I discovered a wonderful, fabulous and fantastic site.

One of the most beautiful sunsets

Our adventure begins with an information meeting overlooking snow-capped mountains.

Followed by a tour of the terrace and explanations on our position,  from there I saw one of the most beautiful sunsets of my life… Even though I’m only 17!

The group and myself build up an appetite (a small committee of approximately 20 people). The gourmet restaurant is excellent with an impeccable service. So much so that we reserve a table for lunch the following day before coming back down. After the meal, the planetarium, where we learn the theory of the stunning starry sky we’re about to observe. We’re lucky to have an obviously passionate host with a great sense of humour, which makes our activity even more fun.

At around 10:30pm, and my mind full of stars, I begin to fall into the arms of Morpheus. I take a last look out of the window to see the beautiful snowy mountains… my eyes close.

A majestic night at the Pic du Midi

The next morning, up at 6am, we observe the sky and the moon via a telescope.

The last one up at the Pic du Midi is… the sun!

It’s simply magnificent! We are lucky to witness a green ray… no one says a word. It’s time for breakfast with a great choice of foods.

Feeling full, the adventure continues.

We change observatory to learn more about the sun. We conclude with a last screening and explanation on the extraordinary phenomenon, earth, and come to realise that our planet is a speck of dust in the universe or universes?

It’s so big! I’m dizzy!

Incredible moments and sensations

I will remember these incredible moments and sensations.

I have the impression of having lived a privileged experience aboard a ship (at night red lights only, to illuminate and not pollute) with a stopover in Antarctica for stargazing.

What would your definition of this experience be?

I recommend this adventure that is forever engraved in my memory.

This adventure is forever engraved in my memory, and I highly recommend trying it for yourself.
